Blankets for Project Linus
Date : 12/2/18
Every year as one of our community service projects, we make blankets. Besides helping out children in need, it is a great team activity for all of us. We have been making blankets for Project Linus for the last couple of years. Project Linus is a non-profit organization which provides homemade blankets to children in need.
We made 12 No-Sew Fleece blankets. We purchased fleece with frogs on them, in keeping with our team name. We cut off 4 inch squares from each corner and then cut a 1 inch fringe around the blanket. Then we tie the fringe to complete them. Making these blankets is a really fun team activity.

Mittens for Detroit
Date : 11/30/18
At the “Light Up The Night” event at the Novi Civic Center, we held a drive for Mittens for Detroit. Mittens for Detroit is an organization which collects mittens and gloves and gives them to those who are in need. We work with Mittens for Detroit every year and set up a box for donations.
We promote the donation of mittens and gloves through our Facebook page. Those who are willing to donate put the gloves in the box. The Mittens for Detroit organization then collects them and distributes them to people in need in Detroit. During the drive we received 32 pairs of mittens and gloves.

Toys for Tots Drive at Frog Force Frenzy
Date : 11/18/2018
This is the sixth year we ran the Toys for Tots drive at the Frog Force Frenzy FTC Qualifier. Every year, we send out our flyer to the Frog Force Frenzy event coordinator and then they distribute the flyer to all the teams and volunteers who will be at the competition. We also put the flyer on our Facebook page. The fun part of the event comes after the collection where we get to count all the toys. This year we collected donations that totaled to 52 toys and $30 for kids in need.

Packing and Organizing Food at Gleaners
Date : 8/25/2018
Over the summer, as one of our outreach events, we went to Gleaners Food Bank. After we had signed in, we split up into five pairs. We were given boxes of cereal and were instructed to transfer 1 pound of cereal into each bag. All together, we got almost 1000 pounds of packed cereal by the time we finished 2.5 hours later. It was really fun packaging the cereal and we all enjoyed helping those people who need our help. These packages are sent to churches and other places where they distribute the food to needy. It is especially important during summer as most kids no longer have access to free food at school. We all look forward to this activity as it is not only a fun team building activity, but we also leave with a great feeling we helped other people in the community.

Volunteering at the Island Lake Triathlon
Date : 7/28/2018
Every year hundreds of Triathletes participate in the annual Island Lake of Novi Jon Logan Memorial Triathlon & OWS, sponsored by FAST Swim and the Triathlon Club. This sprint event is great for Triathletes of all abilities. This is the second year we are helping with the event as this is an event takes place annually in our community. We were assigned a waterstation and helped out by passing water and Gatorade to the runners. We also stood at the corners where the triathletes could go off in the wrong direction and guided them. It was a fun experience to watch all these triathletes run and bike past us.
