Deerfield Science Fair Demo
Date : 2/26/19
We were invited to demo our robot and program at the Deerfield Science Fair. Most of our team attended Deerfield for Elementary and always are happy to demo at this event. We get to meet our teachers and it is always exciting to share our progress with them. Many of the students and their parents came by to ask about the program and how to join robotics next year. We told them about the progression of programs and the yearly NBOT meeting where the information on joining the teams is given out. We also drove around our robot and answered questions about it. We also go to go around and see the science fair experiments that the students had done. It was an overall fun event.

Light Up the Night
Date : 11/30/18
Our city, Novi, has an annual event called “Light Up The Night”, this is where people come to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season as a community. During this event, we demoed our practice robot and spread the word about FIRST robotics. We set up an obstacle course once again using tape for the kids so that they got a chance to drive our robot. Approximately 100 kids drove our robot. We talked to many enthusiastic people and gave them information like how to join robotics and where they could go for more information. We also got an opportunity to go around the festival and enjoy the festivities. This is one of our fun outreach events.

Presenting at PTC Annual Employee Conference at Detroit
Date : 10/22/2018
PTC is a major FIRST sponsor. Before the season kickoff, FIRST in Michigan had sent out a survey asking teams if they have used Vuforia in the past seasons. Of the teams that had used Vuforia, two teams were selected and Black Frogs was one of the teams in addition to the Oxford Middle School Wildcats. We were asked to demo at PTC’s annual employee conference in Detroit where there were more than 500 people in attendance We decided to use the Vuforia for this year's game – Rover Ruckus for demo. It took us a few days to get the demo program ready, but we learned a lot from the experience.
On the demo day, besides the 2 teams which were doing the demo, 4 more FTC and 2 FRC teams were in attendance including our very own Frog Force. We were all given sweatshirts and asked to enter the conference room together. All the teams got to sit together in the front by the field. Along with a member from the Oxford team, 2 of our teammates, Sanjith and Rishi, did the Vuforia demo. They gave a brief introduction of how Vuforia works and showed how they had implemented it. The audience greatly appreciated our work. We also answered questions about the program. The FRC robots also demoed their robot capability. The intent of the FIRST presentation was to show how PTC’s support is helping the future engineers and professionals.
After the meeting, we were also invited to join the demo of PTC’s AR products. There were some really cool 3D imaging softwares we got to see. We also spent time with the virtual reality glasses.
Overall it was a very fun experience.

Demo at the Advanced Manufacturing Expo
Date : 8/21/2018
The Advanced Manufacturing Expo is an expo where the vendors working in the field of automation such as robots, laser markers, machine vision, etc. come and display what their companies are about and their capabilities. We talked to different companies about their products and told them what FIRST/FTC is about. We learned about a lot of new things such as collaborative robots which are robots that are safe to be around people. We also saw innovative ideas like virtual reality and new wiring methods to make things easier for engineers. We drove our robot around the expo while answering questions and talking to different people. Altogether it was a fun, interesting and a knowledgeable experience.
