Seminars at Detroit FTC Kickoff |
Date: 9/8/18
On kickoff day for the 2018 season, our team was invited to the kickoff organized by our FRC team Frog Force at the North West Activities Center in Detroit where more than 32 teams were in attendance. This year we had 10 new DPAL FTC teams besides the 10 pre-rookie DPAL teams from last year, so 20 in total. We were asked to conduct a rookie coach workshop for these new teams. As a team we had worked on a rookie coach presentation which included topics such as what to expect on a competition day, match format, season time line, tips on alliance selection, component's of a robot, design process, and electrical and programming tips. We were asked a lot of questions after the presentation about the competition and the robot. We also ran two more sessions. One on the basics of Autodesk Fusion and one more on how to use Fusion for 3-D printing. It was very well attended. These sessions were run by our teammate Sanjith and moderated by Dr. Shekar from Autodesk who answered many questions from the attendees. After the sessions, we joined the other teams to watch the kickoff video. We were really excited for this year's challenge, Rover Ruckus. After that we started inspecting the field that they had we took some measurements which we planned to use for planning until we received our field kit.

Organize Fusion 360 Training at Autodesk
Date: 8/14/2018
We had Fusion 360 training in partnership with Autodesk. This was our third year of organizing this training. We invited all seven Novi FTC teams for the training. More than 50 people attended this training. We directed the other teams to the right room. An Autodesk mentor ran the teams through the basics of Autodesk Fusion and CAD, such as completing sketches, extrusions, revolving, shells, and filets. The mentor also talked to us about the new "Sheet Metal" simulator, where you can simulate bending sheet metal in Fusion. He also showed us how to use the team functionality. Due to this training all the teams in Novi, including us, have started using Fusion 360 for all our designing needs. We had fun and learned many new ways to design our robot and look forward to coming back soon!
