Skype with Programming Club & Sewadham – 2 FTC teamS from India
Dates: 09/21/19, 11/17/19
Since last couple of year we have been interacting with Programming Club, a FTC team from New Delhi, India. This year, they are trying to start a new team in India at a school meant for underserved community. This call was meant as an introduction to the new team. We first went through the introductions and then we talked about FTC and what our team does.We went through this years game and then discussed our design process. We showed them the field and talked about some of the game expectations. They had a few questions about vision and on how to detect the skystone, we told them about using Vuforia and offered to set up another session with them where we will take them through Vuforia training. We wished them all the best for their season and promised to set up another session soon. |
Organize Fusion 360 Training at Autodesk
Date: 08/13/19
The outreach event in the office of the company Autodesk, in Novi MI, U.S.A, was a great learning opportunity. It was hosted by our team, Black frog robotics. We were learning Computer Aided Designing, or for short, CAD, because we use CAD to design robot parts, for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology’s (F.I.R.S.T’s) Lego First Tech Challenge(F.T.C). At the Autodesk office we learned how to use CAD program, Autodesk Fusion 360. All in all, it was an amazing learning opportunity, run and supervised by Autodesk employees. Autodesk specifically invited Mr. Steve Olson all the way from Pittsburgh to give us this training. We had invited the other 7 Novi FTC teams to this training. We worked hard, learning for four hours, and in the end we got deep-dish pizza and huge cookies. The most fun part was meeting with our friends and learning. The opportunity was also made fun, by the workers who were extremely helpful, and helped us configure our designs to the given constraints, and in turn we were able to help our teammates and fellow peers. The event was amazing, a good learning opportunity, and everyone enjoyed it. |
Mentoring FLL Rookie team - Nova Bots
Date: Aug - now
Since August I have been mentoring a FLL team – Novabots. There are 6 kids on the team. The team has five 5th graders and one 4th graders. For all of them this is their second year participating in FLL. Four of them were on this team last year. Its been fun working with them , I have helped them with programming by teaching them basics of programming and helping them strategize. We have been also working on creating MyBlocks so that they can easily reuse the code. I also gave them tips on judging and what to expect during judging. Its been a great experience mentoring them.

Pre-rookie Detroit Teams Workshop, DHDC Detroit
Date: 05/04/19
Before our World championship, we had helped out 5 Pre-rookie teams from Detroit Public Schools who were attending the off-season Spring Competition. There were a few more teams which needed help, so we went back to Detroit Hispanic Development Center and helped out the 8 teams which came with their robots. Some of them needed mechanical guidance and almost all of them needed help with their programming. As usual we divided ourselves among all the teams and some of us helped with the build and a couple of us helped the teams with programming issues. By the end, we had all the robots were able of move. We also advised the teams on what to prepare for the competition like judging, presentation etc. At the end, we wished them all the best for their competition. |
